4 Stress-Reducing Tips

Stress can wreck havoc on our lives, and we tend to be more stressed out towards the end of the work week. But sometimes it's hard to manage our stress levels. Thankfully, we've got some tips to help you wind down at the end of a busy work week.

Focus on Breathing

A simple technique that can greatly reduce stress can be done by anyone, anywhere. By focusing on your breathing and practicing some deep breathing techniques, you can bring your heart rate down significantly. Here's how to do it: Simply adjust your breaths so they are coming from your diaphragm. This simple change can greatly increase your mood and have a calming effect. Always Feel Good Friday suggests learning the 4-7-8 technique: start by exhaling your breath out through your mouth, breathe in through your nose for four seconds, hold your breath for seven and then exhale out through your mouth for eight seconds.

Find Relaxing Activities

Engage in relaxing activities such as yoga to reduce your stress from the week. Take time for you to reduce stress and anxiety. Spend Time Outside

Stress can simply be reduced by stepping outside into natural light. It is has been proven that natural light increases serotonin levels, therefore increasing your mood. By stepping outside to the natural environment, you are also giving your body a change in atmosphere since most of our day is spent inside our offices or homes. This change can help you disengage from the stressors of your daily routine.

Relax Your Muscles

When we sit in our offices all day, our muscles tense up and cause physical stress on our body. To relax your muscles, make sure you get up from your desk once in a while to stretch your muscles and take a walk around the office or the building to get the blood flowing in your legs. Make sure you take the time to exercise on a regular basis to relax your muscles.

After a long week of work, follow these simple tips to help reduce stress to enjoy the weekend ahead!
