Discharge Fallopian

DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS: FALLOPIAN TUBE RECANALIZATION

  1. You may experience mild to moderate cramping after this procedure.  This is normal and may be treated with Tylenol or Advil (1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours).  The cramping should subside within 24-48 hours.  If intense cramping or pain occurs, please contact your physician.  Remember, the cramping you experience should only be slightly worse than normal menstrual cramps.

  2. Please remember to complete all of the prescribed antibiotics.  This is important in order to prevent infection.  If you do develop a fever (>101 oF or 38.3 oC) or have an abnormal-appearing vaginal discharge, please contact your physician.

  3. You may experience slight spotting after the procedure.  This is normal and should be easily managed by wearing a light day maxi-pad.  If you experience a heavy flow and/or the blood is bright red in appearance, please call your physician.

  4. You may shower after this procedure but we recommend that you do not sit in a bathtub for 48 hours.  We also ask that you refrain from inserting anything into your vagina for the next 48 hours, which includes sexual intercourse, tampon use, and douching.

  5. Please call your physician for any follow-up appointments that may be needed.  Your physician will be immediately notified of the results, and a copy of the report will be sent to his/her office.

If any questions or complications develop once you are home, or if we can be of any further assistance in the future, please feel free to contact us at (518) 262-5149.  After hours, please call (518) 262-3125 and ask for the interventional radiologist on call.
