NICE Weight Transitions Program

The NICE program gives you the tools you need to achieve healthy weight loss and an overall healthier lifestyle. All current research in the fields of fitness, nutrition and exercise science have proven that weight loss is most effective when combined with a healthy exercise program. So, the NICE program combines traditional healthcare, exercise, nutrition, and counseling support to get you results.

This program is designed to help educate adolescents and their families about weight management and the healthy lifestyle changes that are necessary for the future through fitness and nutritional programming. This program will ensure that the adolescents involved in the program will be physically active and will learn how to make the proper food choices for a healthy lifestyle and an active body. This program will be fun, energetic and as informational as possible to get the adolescents and their parents (families) excited and motivated to make necessary changes in their lifestyle.

The following programs are offered through Community Care's NICE program:

The NICE Process

Medical - This is the first step of the program. Your primary care physician will evaluate your health in a routine office visit. If necessary, they will refer you to the NICE Weight Transitions Program.

Health Coach - This is your next step. Before beginning the program, you will speak with the health coach for the program. The health coach is going to be your partner in this program. She will collaborate with your physician and your trainer/nutritionist to help you reach your ultimate fitness goal. The health coach will be there for questions, concerns, and support throughout the program.

Nutrition - This is an extremely important part of your program. We will teach you how to eat balanced meals to complement your exercise routine. This is not a diet. it's lifestyle change.

Physical Activity -

Adolescents will engage in activities including:

  • Calisthenics
  • Exercise with standardized gym apparatus
  • Cardio exercises including elliptical machines, treadmills, stationary bikes
  • Do you think video games are bad for you? Some games can actually be incorporate into your exercise routine. Here, we use age appropriate video games from Wii and Dance as a class activity.
  • Cardio Classes including : jumping, kicking, stretching, punching, dancing, walking, marching, front, back and lateral movement.

Classes

Classes will be held after school and on Saturdays. These will be small group settings of 8-10 children. Your health coach will help you schedule group training sessions throughout the week that are convenient for you. There will also be open gym sessions throughout the week for adolescents to work out independently by using the tools and program set up with the fitness instructors.

There will also be an additional option for adolescents to work one-on-one with a trainer to see faster results or to ‘catch up’ with the other kids. This can be a real asset to kids who come into the program ‘significantly behind’ other kids. This will open the door for anyone to feel comfortable in the programming.

Classes include but are not limited to:

  • cardio pump, cardio dance, kickboxing, strength and conditioning, sports conditioning, totally fit and fitkids.

Fitness Program Details:
