FAQ for mycareDOT Patients

Who can use the mycareDOT service?
Any established patient who sees a doctor that is using mycareDOT may use the service.

Some patients with health plan coverage can enjoy webVisits® (online consultations with your doctor) as a covered benefit.  You may be responsible for the webVisit co-pay or charge as determined by your physician.

How do I get started?
Read the mycareDOT Terms & Conditions, check the box next to "I agree to the Terms of Use above," click the Submit button, and then fill out the form to Register as a New User.

How do I know if my doctor uses mycareDOT?
View the mycareDOT provider listing to see if your doctor is participating.  If your doctor is not participating, you may change to a new physician who uses mycareDOT.

How do I select a physician who uses mycareDOT?
View the mycareDOT provider listing to view the list of participating providers.  If your doctor is not participating, you may change to a new physician who uses mycareDOT.

To use mycareDOT, you must have an existing relationship with a physician using mycareDOT.  If you want to change to a new physician who uses mycareDOT, you must schedule an in-office visit before communicating with them online.  Physicians are added regularly.

How much does it cost to communicate with my physician online?
If webVisits are a covered benefit of your plan, and your plan requires a co-pay for a typical office visit, you may be required to pay some co-pay amount for a webVisit.  If your plan does not cover webVisits, the cost is determined by your doctor and will be communicated to you before you begin the webVisit.

There is no other charge for any other mycareDOT service.

Why should I use a webVisit?

  • Communicate with your physician about non-urgent symptoms when it’s most convenient for you
  • Do it from anywhere with an Internet connection
  • Skip unnecessary office visits and avoid telephone hassles
  • Use the webVisit to guide you through a dynamic medical interview, which builds a concise message for your doctor.  You receive an answer from your provider online
  • You can access sent and received messages at any time for easy, online reference
  • mycareDOT has stronger privacy and security compared to regular e-mail or the telephone

Is my privacy protected?
The mycareDOT service is completely secure and HIPAA compliant.  Encryption technology and a stringent privacy policy protect your personal information more securely than either the telephone or regular e-mail.  Your information is only accessible by you, your doctor, and your doctor’s authorized staff.
