As family physicians, Latham Medical Group (LMG) providers have the unique ability to care for people of all ages, from newborns to adults.
Doctors Jeffrey Stone and Holly Cleney, providers at LMG, were interviewed on News Channel 10 (WTEN) after several children’s over the counter cough remedies were recalled including medications by Dimetapp®, Little Colds®, PediaCare®, Robitussin®, Triaminic®, and Tylenol®. The recall came after several children died from overdoses resulting from misuse of the medications.
Even though he hasn’t witnessed many problems resulting from these drugs, Dr. Stone warns that “any over-the-counter medicines for children under the age of two should be clarified with your physician.” Besides, there are alternatives when caring for a sick child. Dr. Holly Cleney, physician and mother of a 16 month old, advises to “suction the nose, wipe the nose, and push lots of fluid.”
